About the role

Join Amgen’s mission of serving patients with serious illnesses. In this field-based position within the Medical Value & Population Health team, you will develop programs, activities, and relationships to advance the value and clinical knowledge of Amgen’s products to the payer community. This role reports to a Senior Director and covers the Pittsburgh, PA and Ohio region.

Responsibilities

  • Provide payer and formulary support through value and medical presentations focusing on therapeutic and economic outcomes, utilization aspects, and clinical policy discussions.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain collaborative relationships with payer, policy, IDN, and health economic and outcomes research opinion leaders.
  • Interact with key internal stakeholders to provide feedback on customer trends in interpreting and using value evidence, reimbursement, and payer policy.
  • Deliver complex value-based technical information, including medical education, health outcomes, pharmacoeconomics, and research protocol opportunities.
  • Represent Amgen Scientific Affairs to designated payer and select IDN accounts, as well as thought leaders in health economics and outcomes research.
  • Foster scientific information exchange related to reimbursement and coverage policy between the medical community and Amgen.
  • Collect and report competitive intelligence within Amgen’s guidelines.
  • Manage internal relationships, budgets, and travel and expense (T&E) within guidelines.
  • Conduct all duties in compliance with Amgen’s guidelines.

Requirements

We seek a Medical Value Access Liaison with the following qualifications:

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Doctorate degree & 2 years of Medical Affairs experience, OR
    • Master’s degree & 4 years of Medical Affairs experience, OR
    • Bachelor’s degree & 6 years of Medical Affairs experience, OR
    • Associate’s degree & 10 years of Medical Affairs experience, OR
    • High school diploma / GED & 12 years of Medical Affairs experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Pharm.D., Ph.D., M.D., or D.O.
    • Five years of biotech industry experience working directly with U.S. payer accounts.
    • Expertise in CV, metabolic, inflammation, bone, or neuro-oncology therapeutic areas.
    • Deep knowledge of managed markets, U.S. reimbursement landscape, pharmacoeconomics, population health, and healthcare trends.
    • Experience in patient access in U.S. and/or global markets.
    • Project management experience within a biopharmaceutical company.
    • Strong advocacy, communication, team cohesion, critical thinking, analytical, and project management skills.
    • Ability to lead and manage projects from concept to completion.
    • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, active listening, and relationship management skills.
    • Ability to interface effectively with all levels, including senior management.
    • Ability to influence others while fostering a value-based environment.
    • Ability to navigate a matrix and ambiguous environment.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information clearly and effectively.
    • Demonstrates creativity and foresight in solving complex project issues.
