Pay
$18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.
Schedule
This is an hourly position located in Rockford, IL. Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with every other weekend rotation and two holidays per year. 24 hours per week.
About the Role
The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor, and registration precision. The role involves clearly communicating services, financial responsibilities, and expectations to patients and families to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services. Strong deductive reasoning and logic skills are required to resolve complex, multi-payer situations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure accurate and complete patient medical records, including demographics and insurance details.
- Communicate services, financial responsibilities, and expectations to patients and families.
- Provide excellent patient service to create a positive first impression of OSF’s services.
- Resolve issues in complex, multi-payer situations using deductive reasoning and logic.
- Complete all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
- Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict management, time management, and oral/written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three years of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
- Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
- Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
