Patient Access Associate

Pay

Expected pay for this position is $18.80 - $22.12/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills, and internal equity.

Schedule

This is an hourly position located in Mendota, IL. Primary hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM. Intermittent travel as needed across I-80 market outpatient rehab clinics.

About the Role

The Patient Access Associate ensures each registered patient has a complete and accurate OSF medical record, including patient demographics, insurance coverage, responsible guarantor, and registration precision. The role involves clearly communicating services, financial responsibilities, and expectations to patients and families to create an exceptional first impression of OSF’s services. Strong deductive reasoning and logic skills are required to resolve complex, multi-payer situations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records, including demographics, insurance, and guarantor information.
• Explain services, financial responsibilities, and facility expectations to patients and families.
• Provide excellent patient service to create a positive first impression of OSF’s services.
• Resolve issues in complex, multi-payer situations using deductive reasoning and logic.
• Complete all role-specific revenue cycle training and certification within 12 months.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Working knowledge of standard Microsoft Office applications and website navigation.
• Problem-solving, conflict management, time management, and strong oral/written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Three years of experience in an office clerical setting or customer service environment.
• Direct experience in a revenue cycle or medical setting.
• Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
