Medical Transport Communications Specialist II - Transfer Center - 0.75 FTE
What We Do
The Medical Transport Communications Specialist (CS) II provides a professional, efficient response to incoming EMTALA (Emergency Medical Transportation and Labor Act) requests, Non-EMTALA requests and consult services for patients needing services at SHC. They also participate in training and mentoring new staff in the Transfer Center, act as a resource for clarification and development of operational procedures and protocols, and serve as the primary communication link and liaison between Life Flight crews and medical teams.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Associates Degree preferred
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience required
Skills
- Mastery of comprehensive and effective communication skills
- Utilizes C-I-Care principles in the Transfer Center
- Validates accuracy of information of ongoing events and communicates pertinent details to team members
- Operates communications center’s multi-telephone lines, two-way radio transmission and receiving console, computer database, mapping systems and equipment
- Reads and interprets weather products including radar and satellite systems
- Manages staffing coverage and API for departmental shortages daily
- Manages response to County based EM (Emergency Medical) System notifications
- Trains and manages HIMS (Health Information Management System) scanning, and records management
- Trains and manages On Base, Voalte, and Microsoft Excel for Data Base maintenance

Pay
Base pay scale generally starting at $39.71 - $51.62 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
