Medical Technologist Weekend Per Diem

Job Summary

Description Kindred Hospital Riverside is a 40-bed long-term acute care hospital offering specialized care for extended recovery periods. We partner with physicians and provide 24-hour clinical care, including an ICU and negative pressure room. Located near Perris, we offer nearby amenities.

About the Role

Performs routine and special laboratory tests on clinical specimens to aid in patient diagnosis and monitoring. Assists in maintaining quality control and records.

Responsibilities

• Performs analyses in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, blood bank, and microbiology
• Performs venipuncture, finger stick, or heel stick as requested by physicians
• Keeps records current regarding specimen handling, processing, and test results
• Maintains proficiency testing samples and documents quality control activities
• Identifies and corrects issues affecting test performance or reporting

Requirements

• Comprehensive knowledge of safety, quality control, and specimen handling guidelines
• Skilled in using laboratory equipment
• Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadlines
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory methods and instrumentation
• Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, laboratory medicine, and disease processes
• Confidentiality of patient and employee information
• Fluent English reading, writing, and speaking skills
• Good attendance record

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological science, or medical technology from an accredited institution
• Current license issued by the State in which the laboratory is located (if required)
• Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by a nationally recognized agency/board preferred
• 1-2 years of acute care hospital lab experience in high complexity testing preferred

Pay

$45.00-$57.00/hr
