Medical Technologist - Weekend Days

About the role

The Laboratory Technologist performs and evaluates clinical lab tests, monitors workflow, and ensures accurate results according to established protocols. They evaluate test significance, maintain and calibrate equipment, and review quality control measures. The role includes specimen collection from diverse patient populations, training and supporting staff, and ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.

They support specialty testing in areas such as microbiology, hematology, and transfusion services, providing timely results for critical care departments. The technologist must demonstrate knowledge of patient age-specific needs and handle high-pressure situations professionally.

Responsibilities

• Perform and evaluate clinical laboratory tests according to established protocols.
• Monitor workflow and ensure accurate test results.
• Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
• Review and implement quality control measures.
• Collect specimens from diverse patient populations.
• Train and support laboratory staff.
• Ensure compliance with accreditation standards.
• Support specialty testing in microbiology, hematology, and transfusion services.
• Provide timely results for critical care departments.
• Address patient age-specific needs and handle high-pressure situations professionally.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or related field.
• MT or MLS certification by ASCP or AMT (required within 1 year if not already held).

• Ability to work under stress and handle a flexible schedule.
• Physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs and perform duties standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods.
• Knowledge of laboratory equipment and safety protocols.
