Medical Technologist Supervisor Blood Bank

Position Responsibilities

• Affirms adequate staffing levels.
• Adjusts schedules and workstation assignments as necessary.
• Supervises the laboratory in case of equipment or reagent issues.
• Communicates issues affecting the laboratory to the manager/director.
• Compiles statistics for the laboratory’s performance improvement program.
• Orients new employees, conducts inservices, ensures competency testing, and administers annual safety training.
• Monitors and documents critical laboratory functions, including corrective actions.
• Oversees quality control, reviews records, documents corrections, and compiles statistics.
• Holds monthly staff meetings with signed minutes and attendance sheets.
• Reports monthly on performance improvement results.
• Implements the laboratory safety program, ensuring compliance with hospital safety goals.
• Trains staff in computer downtime procedures, disaster preparedness, and safe work practices.
• Collaborates with management to enhance processes deemed inadequate.
• Coordinates technical and clerical functions within the Pathology Department.
• Works towards improving laboratory morale and acts as a positive role model for staff.

Qualifications

• Licensed as a supervisor by the State of Florida in appropriate specialties - national certification preferred.
• Education commensurate with licensure requirements.
• Experience: 3-5 years in the specialty.
