About the role

Our Medical Lab Technologists are responsible for providing patients and physicians with accurate and timely results to aid in diagnosis and treatment. The Medical Lab Technologist performs tests and reports results of requested laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all approved laboratory procedures in assigned areas of licensure, requiring a high degree of theoretical knowledge and technical expertise.
  • Exercise independent judgment under minimum to moderate supervision.
  • Perform routine procedures, interpret results, and take appropriate actions when necessary.
  • Organize workload to achieve efficiency and report results in a timely manner according to patient needs.
  • Determine acceptability or rejection of results according to standards; request assistance from more experienced technologists or technical manager when needed.
  • Perform, record, and document corrective action when quality control results are not within defined limits, adhering to established policies, procedures, and CAP proficiency guidelines.
  • Follow best practice methodologies and laboratory compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure proper operation for high-quality test performance by performing daily maintenance, monitoring supply stock, and replenishing as needed.
  • Practice infection control through careful hand washing and wearing personal protective equipment, maintaining a well-kept work area for patient and self-safety.

Requirements

  • Currently registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Medical Technologist by ASCP.
  • Technician certification or certification eligible as defined by GDHR.
  • AS or BS in Medical Technology or Baccalaureate degree plus completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technology program.
  • Hospital laboratory experience preferred.
