Medical Technologist MT or Medical Lab Technician MLT- Laboratory

About the role

This position is not eligible for sponsorship/we will not sponsor or transfer a visa for this position. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1-STEM OPT extension program. A two-year commitment to this position is required.

Responsibilities

• Receive direction from Lab Manager, Regional Director and the Laboratory Medical Director.
• Work cooperatively with Administration, Physicians, Allied Health Staff, patients and residents.
• Perform analyses on biological specimens, e.g. blood and urine, to aid health care providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
• Participate in the operational support activities necessary to maintain and optimize testing capabilities.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in one of the following: Medical Technology (MT), Medical Laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS).
• Or Bachelor’s degree plus Certificate in Medical laboratory Science (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS), Medical Technology (MT), as recognized by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS).
• An HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program or U.S. military Medical Laboratory-training program.

Skills

• Experience working in a medical field.
• Moderate to advanced computer skills.
• Possess good written and oral communications skills, the ability to prioritize work, manage time wisely, and adjust to changes in work volumes and projects.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy.
• Willingness to travel to other MCHS locations for assignments as needed.

Pay and Schedule

• Pay Range: $32.43 - $48.66 for MT and $26.52-$39.32 per hour for MLT.
• Schedule: Part Time Hours/Pay Period 48. Primary: 10-hour weekend day shift, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Microbiology). As needed: occasional 8-hour weekday evening shift, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM, supporting molecular and culture workload. Weekend Schedule: Primary: 10-hour weekend day shift, 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Microbiology). Every 3rd holiday rotation. Minimum of one weekend off per month.
