Medical Technologist - MT/MLS/MLT-Overnight

About the role

Gateway Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Technologist / Medical Lab Scientist (MT/MLS) or Medical Lab Technician (MLT) to perform laboratory tests and procedures that assist in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This role involves conducting diagnostic tests, analyzing results, and interpreting data to support clinicians in making informed medical decisions. The position requires expertise in laboratory technology, strict adherence to quality control standards, and the ability to troubleshoot complex laboratory instruments.

Location: 2100 Madison Ave, Granite City, IL 62040. This is a full-time, overnight position with 10-hour shifts, totaling 80 hours per pay period.

Education Qualifications

MLT candidates

• Associate degree from a Medical Laboratory Technician program at an accredited institution, including courses in chemistry and biology; or
• Associate degree of at least 60 semester hours from an accredited institution, including chemistry and biology, plus a 12-month structured curriculum in medical laboratory techniques (which may have been part of collegiate coursework); or
• Associate degree or equivalent from an accredited institution, including courses in chemistry and biology, plus graduation from a military medical laboratory training program of not less than 12 months duration.

MT/MLS candidates

• Baccalaureate degree in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution; and
• Completed and approved ASCP (or equivalent) certification pathway; or satisfied CLIA requirements for HEW certification; and
• Completed one year in an accredited laboratory training program.

Certification Qualifications

MLT Candidates

• Required: Eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (ASCP), MLT (AMT), HEW, or CLS (NCA) or equivalent for individuals who completed certification requirements in 2004 or later.
• Recommended: Registry within 12 months of completion of school/training or equivalent education documentation per CLIA standards.
• Individuals qualified for certification prior to December 31, 2003, are not required to maintain yearly certification.

MT/MLS Candidates

• Required: Certification eligibility as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS (ASCP), MT (AMT), HEW, or CLS (NCA) or equivalent for individuals who completed certification requirements in 2004 or later.
• Preferred: Certification within 12 months of completion of school/training or equivalent education documentation per CLIA standards.
• Individuals qualified for certification prior to December 31, 2003, are not required to maintain yearly certification.

Experience

Previous experience is preferred, but new graduates are welcome to apply.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $20.41 - $38.56 per hour. Pay is determined based on education level, years of experience, relevant certifications, and specific skills related to the position.
