Medical Technologist 2

Responsibilities

• Provides specialized testing and support for the laboratory section under the direction of laboratory leadership.
• Performs complex technical assignments requiring theoretical insight and interpretation.
• Exercises a high degree of skill and judgment in performing instrument maintenance/standardization, daily quality control, and adherence to policies.
• Communicates with internal and external clients clearly and professionally.
• Reports to work at assigned UR Labs location/site.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field required.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Licensed Clinical Laboratory Technologist per NYS upon hire required.

Qualifications

• Understands the principles and methodologies of laboratory science.
• Exercises independent judgment and decision-making skills.
• Adheres to safety, quality control, and quality assurance protocols.
• Trains other technologists, technicians, and/or residents.
• Maintains supply inventory and assists in special procedures.
• Assumes additional responsibilities of supervision as qualified/applicable.

Skills

• Proficiency in current, moderately complex laboratory methods/instrumentation.
• Ability to determine specimen integrity before analysis.
• Knowledge of instrument preventative maintenance and method troubleshooting.
• Effective communication skills.

Pay

• $33.84 - $43.99 per hour.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:00AM-3:30PM with rotating holidays and weekends.
