About the unit
Johnson 2 is a 30‑bed surgical adult unit. The average length of stay is 3.4 days with an average daily census of 22 patients. The majority of admissions come from the postoperative anesthesia care unit (PACU), followed by admissions from the emergency department with orthopedic, surgical, or gastrointestinal diagnoses. The unit has 12 private rooms and 9 semi‑private rooms (two patients each). Johnson 2 generally accepts patients 18 years and older with surgical conditions, ranging from young adult to geriatric. Patients are typically admitted to the surgical service or to a hospitalist with the surgeon as consultant.
Responsibilities
- Complete assessments, administer medications/treatments, observe patient progress, and evaluate therapies for clinical outcomes and effectiveness
- Collaborate with physicians and other medical professionals to develop an optimal health care strategy plan for each patient
- Support and educate patients and their loved ones to achieve maximum outcomes
Requirements
- BSN preferred
- Massachusetts RN license required
- BLS (AHA) required
- Current experience on a post‑operative medical‑surgical unit preferred
Pay
Base hourly wage range: $37.00 – $84.71. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement; compensation will be consistent with the terms of that agreement.
