About the role

The Medical Staff Services Coordinator at Catholic Medical Center assists with implementation of and compliance with credentialing initiatives/processes. Key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable policies, accreditation standards, and regulations.
  • Facilitate meetings for various committees and support functions for continued monitoring.
  • Coordinate the emergency call schedule and records for call compensation payments.
  • Manage correspondence between facility and individual medical staff members.
  • Support medical staff officers in their duties.
  • Prepare and distribute credentialing reports.
  • Develop and maintain medical staff governance documents.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the facility, Division Medical Staff Services, and the CPC.
  • Ensure all facility non-privileged practitioner processes comply with Ethics & Compliance Policy.
  • Coordinate the collection and handling of medical staff dues and other fees.
  • Update Meditech Practitioner Dictionary/Database to be consistent with practitioner data in Cactus.
  • Participate in planning for future medical staff recruitment.
  • Facilitate orientation for new medical staff members and other key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate orientation for new officers, committee members, and governing body.
  • Provide education to administrators and department directors regarding CPC operations and MSSD operations, privileging, and non-privileged practitioner credentialing.
  • Facilitate any continuing medical education (CME) programs offered through the facility.
  • Accomplish facility-based credentialing tasks, including applying the credentials evaluation process, processing applications, and managing expiring credentials.
  • Facilitate development of eligibility criteria for clinical privileges and review requests for clinical privileges.
  • Maintain privilege content within the Visual Cactus system and MEDITECH Practitioner Database.
  • Coordinate access to credentialing information and facilitate regulatory agency reporting.
  • Coordinate with the facility’s quality department for professional practice evaluations, peer reviews, and patient safety activities.
  • Coordinate with the risk manager for claims history and NPDB management.
  • Facilitate due process and submit Reportable Issue reports.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates should have:

  • A bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, public health, or a related field.
  • Experience in medical staff services, credentialing, and privileging.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of HCA Healthcare and Parallon Credentialing Processing Center policies and regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Cactus system.
