About RPC

Rochester Psychiatric Center (RPC), a Joint Commission accredited Office of Mental Health (OMH) facility, provides inpatient and outpatient treatment and rehabilitation to adults diagnosed with serious mental illness, residential and community support programs to children and adolescents diagnosed with serious emotional disturbances, and inpatient treatment to individuals involved with the Criminal Justice System. RPC is committed to supporting underserved individuals, organizations, and communities, along with activities and initiatives to reduce disparities in access, quality, and treatment for underserved populations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and diagnosing and treating medical conditions.
  • Prescribing medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care.
  • Collaborating with the treatment team to achieve treatment goals and objectives.
  • Participating in discharge planning and working collaboratively with other providers and disciplines to facilitate medical follow-up after discharge.
  • Assisting in the development of medical policies, reviewing patient records for new admissions, and ensuring all medical documentation complies with facility, state, and federal standards.
  • Supervising Family Nurse Practitioners.

Requirements

Candidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed to practice medicine in New York State and have certification by a Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.

Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
