About the role
Capital District Psychiatric Center is recruiting a physician to serve as a Medical Specialist 2. Candidates from outside or within State Service can apply.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, treat, prescribe, and provide specialized medical care and treatment services to individuals with mental illness.
- Conduct physical examinations; order and interpret diagnostic tests; diagnose and treat medical conditions.
- Prescribe medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care, modifying treatment as needed.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and disciplines to achieve treatment goals and objectives.
- Maintain medical documentation consistent with agency, State, and federal requirements.
- Participate in discharge planning and collaborate with other providers and disciplines.
Minimum Qualifications
- Licensed to practice medicine in New York State.
- Certification by Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty.
- Candidates from within State Service may qualify with one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.

Schedule
Regular work week is 40 hours. Medical Specialists 2 have an opportunity to earn up to 50% of their salary by volunteering to provide evening, night, and weekend coverage.
