Responsibilities

  • Maintain appropriate documentation related to all experiments (lab notebook), protocols, equipment, safety requirements, inventory, and orders.
  • Ensures overall cleanliness and organization of the laboratory and laboratory equipment.
  • Orders and maintains adequate stocks of all necessary supplies and consumables, with PI's approval.
  • Order supplies at appropriate times and in adequate quantities to avoid waste.
  • Ensures working condition of all essential laboratory equipment, including freezers, fridges, incubators, gas cylinders, liquid nitrogen storage and others as designated by the PI.
  • Works to promptly safeguard research resources (cells, samples, and other perishables) in case of malfunction.
  • Takes appropriate measures to remediate malfunctions, working with the department's equipment technician.
  • Plans, designs and conducts laboratory experiments.
  • Summarizes data and assists the PI in data analysis.
  • Supervise and aid other research personnel and students in the laboratory.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences, or equivalent combination (4 years) of job-related experience and college education.
  • Experience may be substituted for college education on a year for year basis.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in laboratory studies and the mechanisms of progression of prostatic diseases including benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer, a B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry/Chemistry or Engineering, wet lab research experience, and experience and expertise with laboratory techniques used in cell biology and biochemistry research, including isolating extracellular vesicles/exosomes from cells, and working with rodents.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at https://app4.ttuhsc.edu/payplan.
