Responsibilities
- Maintain appropriate documentation related to all experiments (lab notebook), protocols, equipment, safety requirements, inventory, and orders.
- Ensure overall cleanliness and organization of the laboratory and laboratory equipment.
- Order and maintain adequate stocks of all necessary supplies and consumables, with PI's approval.
- Order supplies at appropriate times and in adequate quantities to avoid waste.
- Ensure working condition of all essential laboratory equipment, including freezers, fridges, incubators, gas cylinders, liquid nitrogen storage and others as designated by the PI.
- Works to promptly safeguard research resources (cells, samples, and other perishables) in case of malfunction.
- Takes appropriate measures to remediate malfunctions, working with the department's equipment technician.
- Plans, designs and conducts laboratory experiments.
- Summarize data and assist the PI in data analysis.
- Supervise and aid other research personnel and students in the laboratory.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences, or equivalent combination of job-related experience and college education.
- Experience may be substituted for college education on a year for year basis.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in laboratory studies and the mechanisms of progression of prostatic diseases including benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer.
- A B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry/Chemistry or Engineering.
- Wet lab research experience.
- Experience and expertise with laboratory techniques used in cell biology and biochemistry research, including isolating extracellular vesicles/exosomes from cells, and working with rodents.
