Responsibilities

• Cell culture work.
• Maintain lab equipment.
• Person-specific lab duties (making buffers, aliquoting reagents, calibrating pH meter).
• Prepares basic solutions.
• Keeps lab and equipment clean.
• Prepares and maintains lab notebooks.
• Helps plan and coordinate collaborative projects.
• Maintains lab inventory.
• Aids in designing experiments.
• Aids in lab infrastructure.
• Aids in protocol development.
• Develops protocols for in vitro studies.
• Reads current literature.
• Attends weekly lab meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in one of the sciences, or equivalent combination (four (4) years) of job-related experience and college education.
• Experience may be substituted for college education on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• The candidate must have excellent molecular biology skills required for quantitative real-time PCR, cloning, primary cell culture.
• Experience with research animal (mouse or rat) handling and welfare.

Skills

Evidence of several scientific presentations in national or international conferences over the past three years.

High proficiency in mammalian cell culture (primary cells), cell transductions using viral RNA or transfections using lentiviral particles, western blots using chemiluminescence, multiplex ELISA, and flow cytometry.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan.
