About the role
Our practice is seeking an organized, dependable individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with people. The Medical Records Specialist processes all medical records requests through prompt and courteous service in a high-volume, patient-focused setting.
Responsibilities
- Respond to written or telephonic requests for medical records in a timely manner.
- Maintain patient files in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Respond to subpoenas according to operational standards.
- Retrieve patient information as directed.
- Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, and federal and state requirements.
- Communicate problems or irregularities to management.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience working with medical records in the healthcare industry is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excitement to learn and grow.
- Must exhibit patient confidentiality at all times.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work with changing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Favorable result on background check required.
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
Qualifications
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%).
- Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%).
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs.
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and technology use.
- Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus, required 100% of the time.
- Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary.

Schedule
- Full-time position.
- Offices open Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–5:30 PM; shifts typically scheduled within these hours.
- May require working slightly earlier or later as needed.
- Required travel to other clinics in the area on an as-needed basis.
