About the Role
Our practice is seeking an experienced individual who is organized, dependable, can work well in a fast-paced environment, and thoroughly enjoys working with people. The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for processing all medical records requests through prompt and courteous service in a high-volume, patient-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Responds to written or telephonic requests for medical records in a timely manner.
- Maintains patient files in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Responds to subpoenas according to operational standards.
- Retrieve patient information as directed.
- Maintains patient confidentiality by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, and federal and state requirements.
- Communicates problems or irregularities according to management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous experience working with medical records in the healthcare industry is preferred
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excitement to learn and grow
Qualifications
- Must exhibit patient confidentiality at all times.
- Must be detail-oriented and able to work with changing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
- Favorable result on Background Check required.
- Must be able to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Previous experience working with medical records in the healthcare industry preferred
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems preferred
- Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications
Physical Requirements
This role requires a variety of physical activities to effectively perform essential job functions:
- Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%)
- Regular bending, stooping, and reaching (25–50%)
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands for constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology
- Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus, required 100% of the time
- Occasional driving or climbing may also be necessary

Schedule
Full-time position. Our offices are open Monday-Friday, 7:30am-5:30pm. Your shifts will typically be scheduled within these hours. You may need to work a little earlier and/or later as needed.
