About the role

The typical candidate is hired below midpoint of the range. Schedule: Monday - Friday 8am-4:30pm

Responsibilities

  • Initial on-site point of contact when HIM Leader is off-site for Facility Leadership and Medical Staff.
  • Absorb FPO duties (if applicable).
  • Absorb Records Management duties.
  • Assists Facility HIM Clerks and Birth Certificate Clerks with questions.
  • Absorb employee training and development.
  • Enter applicable unbilled reason codes (URCs) into HPF and MEDITECH on a daily basis.
  • Adhere to documented and established workflow guidelines as it relates to managing facility HPF/MPF work queues and 3M 360 Encompass worklists.
  • Absorb walk-in requests for Release of Information.
  • Request and return paper records from off-site storage as applicable.
  • Retrieve discharged medical records from various nursing units and ancillary departments as needed.
  • Absorb reconciliation of retrieved medical records against patient discharge listings working closely with patient care units to ensure receipt of all records no later than the morning after discharge/visit.
  • Absorb facility based HIM function productivity and quality standards.
  • Absorb record completion activities.
  • Provide training and education of record completion enabling technology (e.g., HPF/MPF, MEDITECH, 3M 360 Encompass).

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalency is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of HIM department experience with a concentration in incomplete record management is strongly preferred.
  • RHIA or RHIT certification is preferred.
