About the role
The Front Office Associate is responsible for various administrative and patient care tasks within an ophthalmic setting.
Responsibilities
- Welcomes, greets, and checks in/outpatients
- Verifies and updates demographics, insurance information, and patient files
- Schedules and confirms appointments
- Processes patient check-in and check-out procedures
- Administers topical ophthalmic and dilation medications
- Maintains a clean and orderly waiting area
- Files and maintains patient records
- Ensures a professional and positive environment
Requirements
- High School education, GED or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
- Experience in a medical office and/or customer service
- Ability to travel to other clinics as assigned
Desirable Experience
- Experience in the Ophthalmic or Optometric Industry
Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of WORD, EXCEL, and standard office equipment
- Ability to respond to inquiries and make decisions under pressure
- Detail-oriented and organized
- Proactive and customer service focused
Work Environment
- Primarily an office classification
- Temperature conditions are controlled with limited direct exposure to hazardous physical substances
- Noise level is usually low to moderate
- Requires sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, seeing, talking, and hearing
- Frequent lifting and carrying of materials up to 20 pounds
- Occasionally stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching
- Finger dexterity needed for computer keyboard, calculator, and other standard office equipment
Pay
$23-$25 per hour
