Medical Office Specialist
About the role
The Medical Office Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring high-quality, efficient care for patients. They provide clinical and administrative expertise, handle various tasks, and contribute to the overall success of the clinic.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with patients and providers
- Schedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointments
- Remind patients of upcoming appointments and track missed appointments
- Answer multiple telephones and accurately document messages
- Forward telephone calls appropriately and follow up on return calls
- Check-in patients and properly document registration
- Verify insurance and verify patient demographics
- Filer medical records, patient files, and administrative files
- Retrieve and deliver medical records to appropriate providers or departments
- Copy and fax documents
- Collect co-pays and cash from patients
- Enter charges, payments, and balance the day in the computer
Requirements
A High School Diploma, preferably a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least one (1) year of Medical Office Front Desk experience. Knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, fax machine, and computer.
Qualifications
Hourly rate of pay: $18/hr - $25/hr
