About the Role

The Clinical Assistant performs clinical and clerical tasks to keep the home health care office running smoothly. This full‑time position is based in the Palestine office and reports to the Director of Nursing/Administrator. The role may require after‑hours or weekend work, travel to other offices, and is not subject to on‑call status.

Experience

• Experience in the health‑care field is helpful.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including after‑hours or weekends as needed.
• Physical/Mental Effort: prolonged sitting required; tasks may involve walking, standing, bending, and lifting.
• Must handle stressful situations calmly and courteously at all times.
• Willingness to perform additional tasks or assume different positions, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Good typing and computer skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work under close supervision and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Good organizational and time‑management skills.
• Flexibility to meet the needs of the management office and the home health agency.

Essential Functions

• Answer questions and provide information in person and over the phone.
• Prepare medical documents for mailing to the medical community; track and follow up on documents sent by paper, email, or fax.
• Prepare admission and recertification packets.
• Create new documents as required and file all clinical documentation in each patient’s chart within the state‑mandated seven‑day window.
• Maintain clinical records in proper order by date and chart division.
• Prepare monthly quality‑improvement reports on physician orders and 485 forms.
• Log notes, type 485 forms, and schedule visits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
