About the role

Responsible for providing day-to-day support operations by performing administrative tasks and ensuring high-quality customer service to patients. Medical office associate manages both the front, scheduling, patient communication, and filing.

Responsibilities

  • Acquires information on new patients and follow-ups.
  • Schedules for new patients and follow-up appointments.
  • Prepares daily charts and obtains medical history, physician documentation, orders, lab work, consents, and releases information by HIPPA guidelines.
  • Scans all medical records into Epic.
  • Department reception greets patients and department visitors courteously.
  • Answers questions, provides information requested, i.e., forms, brochures, insurance.
  • Directs callers appropriately use telephone standard etiquette.
  • Performs departmental MOA duties.
  • Delivers and posts messages for department.
  • Picks up and distributes departmental mail.
  • Organize reception area and monitors when needed.
  • Files charts & paperwork.
  • Organizes the Lobby and maintains clean environment.
  • Behaviors which foster patient satisfaction are consistently demonstrated.
  • Maintains universal precautions.
  • Consistently responds to patients/families in a courteous, timely and positive manner.
  • Completes follow-up phone calls as requested.
  • Assists in the organizational structure of the unit and ongoing work environment.
  • Communicate well with team members.
  • Works well with co-workers and fosters department and hospital goals.
  • Completes Registration process.
  • Registers all new patients and verifies information on existing patients.
  • Checks diagnosis codes with MD office and in Code Correct.
  • Validates pre-certification process complete.
  • Scan all documents into Epic.
  • Identifies the patient using 2 patient identifiers and wrist bands them appropriately.
  • Checks “in” patients from the Infusion and Radiation departments.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Associates degree in Medical Office Management, Business, or related field.
  • 1 year of experience in a medical office environment or relevant area.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines.
  • Basic computer skills.

Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Per Diem, DaysEvery other weekend Saturday and Sunday, variable holidays. 7:30am start.
