Medical Materiel Specialist- Level II

About the role

This position supports medical logistics operations at Hurlburt Field, FL. The Medical Materiel Specialist performs warehousing, inventory management, procurement, and quality assurance tasks for medical supplies and equipment, including controlled items and contingency assemblages.

Responsibilities

• Manage the procurement of medical supplies and equipment
• Ensure all assets in medical WRM assemblages/kits are accounted for and managed
• Lead management of deferred procurement programs
• Ensure all assigned WRM assemblages are inventoried and stored appropriately
• Develop activation checklists for logistics activities
• Coordinate logistics activities with other base organizations, units, and government agencies, ensuring overall readiness and availability of assigned ECMM, including general medical materiel management and warehouse activities
• Conduct monthly reviews and provide monthly reports to the COR of SLEP and DMLSS inventory records to ensure accuracy and program compliance
• Manage shelf-life extension program (SLEP) and serve as SLEP monitor, if required
• Maintain WRM, SLEP, MC-CBRN, etc. continuity files IAW policy and regulations
• Identify and determine proper storage locations (refer, hazmat, flam, etc.)
• Brief medical readiness committee on materiel status of all assigned contingency projects
• Conduct self-inspections and maintain support agreements
• Demonstrate use of PPE
• Package and ship temperature sensitive materiel
• Verify incoming material for correctness in quantity, condition, etc.
• Research and resolve shipment discrepancies
• Identify controlled item markings, store and secure, and perform controlled item inventories; adhere to controlled management program policy and guidance
• Update MMIS with QA data of new or incorrect data
• Retrieve hazardous alerts and recalls, inspect storage locations for affected materiel, document actions, update MMIS/DMLSS, and perform disposition actions
• Provide customer support
• Assist in building kits and assemblages
• Utilize Allowance Standard management system (ASMS)
• Identify Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI)
• Attain certification/license to drive/operate materiel handling equipment (MHE)
• Attain cargo certification to palletize and pack medical items and segregate special handling according to regulations
• Develop a WRM acquisition plan in advance of funding allocation
• Work independently at single-location sites
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or advanced degree in related field preferred
• Six (6) years logistics field experience with four (4) years specialized medical materiel management experience, including specialized experience in ordering, receiving, customer support, inventory and assemblage (kit) management, warehousing operations, and use of material handling equipment
• Experience supporting medical logistics operations within a healthcare or healthcare support environment
• Demonstrated experience using DoD Medical Materiel Information Systems (MMIS) to process medical materiel transactions
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa support
• Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance eligibility
• Experience using Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) highly preferred
• Experience with the Department of Defense preferred
• Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record
• Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification upon hire

Work environment

• Work is performed mainly in a warehouse or distribution center
• The area may be noisy, dusty, or involve exposure to fumes from forklifts or other equipment
• Temperature can vary — some warehouses are climate-controlled, others may be hot in summer and cold in winter

Physical demands

• Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 25–50 lbs (sometimes up to 75 lbs with assistance)
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift (often 8–12 hours)
• Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching to pick up or place materials
• May involve using ladders, step stools, or order pickers to access shelves
• Repeated motion of scanning, sorting, or packaging of materials

Pay & schedule

• $21.34/hour + $5.09 H&W (health and welfare) hourly benefit
• Monday–Friday, 0700–1530
• Travel required: 10% to 25%
