Medical Materiel Specialist - Level II

This position is contingent upon the successful award of a contract currently under bid.

About the role

The Medical Materiel Specialist – Level II will work independently at single-location sites and provide management oversight of other onsite contractor staff. Responsibilities include coordinating logistics activities with base organizations, units, and government agencies, ensuring the overall readiness and availability of unit ECMM (Expeditionary Contingency Medical Materiel), and managing general medical materiel and warehouse activities.

The role also serves as the vendor-contracted Air National Guard (ANG) Influenza Program Manager, responsible for logistical oversight and management of the influenza vaccination program, and acts as the focal point between the Surgeon General and ANG Medical Groups.

Responsibilities

• Provide logistical oversight and inventory management of the 27 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise to ensure precise SLEP/DMLSS statistics and communicate SLEP-related updates to affected units, AFMED, and NGB/SGX.
• Conduct monthly reviews and provide reports to the COR on SLEP and DMLSS inventory records to ensure accuracy and program compliance.
• Serve as the Logical SLEP coordinator.
• Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Track and document the usage of medical materials.
• Assist in the procurement of medical supplies and equipment.
• Perform program management and oversight of medical materiel operations.
• Communicate effectively at all organizational levels and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Provide strategic readiness reporting.
• Work independently at single-location sites and provide management oversight of onsite contractor staff.
• Coordinate logistics activities with base organizations, units, and government agencies.
• Ensure overall readiness and availability of unit ECMM, including general medical materiel management and warehouse activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel is required (10% to 25%).

Requirements

• Associate’s Degree or higher, or eight years of medical logistics field experience with six years of specialized medical materiel management experience.
• Minimum 8 years of medical logistics field experience with six years of specialized medical materiel management experience.
• Specialized experience must include general supply activities, ordering, receiving, customer support, inventory management, assemblage management, warehousing, and operation of various materials handling equipment, specifically in a healthcare or healthcare support environment.
• Experience using and running transactions in the MMIS (Medical Materiel Information System).
• Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without an employer-sponsored visa.
• Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance.

An advanced degree in a related field is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily in a warehouse or distribution center. Conditions may include:

• Noise, dust, or exposure to fumes from forklifts or other equipment.
• Temperature variations (some warehouses are climate-controlled; others may be hot in summer and cold in winter).

Physical Demands

• Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 25–50 lbs (occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance).
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift (often 8–12 hours).
• Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching to pick up or place materials.
• Use of ladders, step stools, or order pickers to access shelves.
• Repeated motion of scanning, sorting, or packaging materials.

Pay

$19.48 to $24.34 per hour.
