Medical Materiel Specialist- Level I

Location: Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Hampton, VA

About the Role

The Medical Materiel Specialist - Level I performs general warehousing tasks, customer support, requisition, shipping, receiving, building medical kits, inventory management, Quality Assurance (QA), and cargo preparation and deployment. This includes handling medical controlled items stored in a secure location, operating materials handling equipment, and updating DoD MMIS records.

Responsibilities

• Provide logistical oversight and inventory management of the 27 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise to ensure precise SLEP/DMLSS statistics and communicate updates to affected units, AFMED, and NGB/SGX.
• Conduct monthly reviews and provide reports to the COR on SLEP and DMLSS inventory records for accuracy and program compliance.
• Serve as Logical SLEP coordinator.
• Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Track and document the usage of medical materials.
• Assist in the procurement of medical supplies and equipment.
• Perform program management, oversight, and strategic readiness reporting.
• Travel 10% to 25% as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of logistics field experience, preferably in Medical Logistics.
• Familiarity with and ability to navigate/utilize MMIS.
• Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment is preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa support.
• Must pass client background screening for security clearance eligibility.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Must possess or be able to obtain acceptable identification for federal facility access (e.g., REAL ID-compliant driver’s license/ID, U.S. passport) prior to start date; ID must remain valid for the duration of employment.
• Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily in a warehouse or distribution center. Conditions may include noise, dust, fumes from forklifts or other equipment, and varying temperatures (some warehouses are climate-controlled, while others may be hot in summer and cold in winter).

Physical Demands

• Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 25–50 lbs (sometimes up to 75 lbs with assistance).
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift (often 8–12 hours).
• Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching to pick up or place materials.
• May involve using ladders, step stools, or order pickers to access shelves.
• Repeated motion of scanning, sorting, or packaging of materials.

Pay

$19.25/hour plus $5.09 health and welfare (H&W) hourly benefit.
