Medical Materiel Specialist- Level I

Location: Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Hampton, VA

About the Role

The Medical Materiel Specialist - Level I performs general warehousing tasks, customer support, requisition, shipping, receiving, building medical kits, inventory management, Quality Assurance (QA), and cargo preparation and deployment. This includes handling medical controlled items stored in a secure location, operating materials handling equipment, and updating DoD MMIS records.

The role involves logistical oversight and inventory management of the 27 Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear (CBRN) Response Enterprise to ensure precise SLEP/DMLSS statistics and effective communication of updates to affected units, AFMED, and NGB/SGX. The contractor also functions as the Logical SLEP coordinator.

Travel is required, ranging from 10% to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Conduct monthly reviews and provide reports to the COR on SLEP and DMLSS inventory records to ensure accuracy and program compliance.
• Perform regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Track and document the usage of medical materials.
• Assist in the procurement of medical supplies and equipment.
• Operate various materials handling equipment, including forklifts.
• Build and manage medical kits.
• Prepare and deploy cargo, including medical controlled items.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of logistics field experience, preferably in Medical Logistics.
• Familiarity with and ability to navigate/utilize MMIS.
• Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment is preferred.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer-sponsored visa support.
• Must pass client background screening for security clearance eligibility.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.
• Must possess or be able to obtain acceptable identification for federal facility access (e.g., REAL ID-compliant driver’s license/ID, U.S. passport, or other approved federal identification). ID must remain valid for the duration of employment.
• Forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

Pay

$19.25/hour + $5.09 health and welfare (H&W) hourly benefit.

Work Environment

The work is performed mainly in a warehouse or distribution center. The environment may be noisy, dusty, or involve exposure to fumes from forklifts or other equipment. Temperature can vary—some warehouses are climate-controlled, while others may be hot in summer and cold in winter.

Physical Demands

• Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 25–50 lbs (sometimes up to 75 lbs with assistance).
• Prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift (often 8–12 hours).
• Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, and reaching to pick up or place materials.
• May involve using ladders, step stools, or order pickers to access shelves.
• Repeated motion of scanning, sorting, or packaging of materials.
