About the role
This is a Part-Time position at Jordan Valley Health.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Laboratory Technician:
- Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids, perform calibrations and quality control, report findings, recognize and address measurement issues, set up and clean equipment, prepare specimens, communicate with providers, and update relevant knowledge.
- Examine cells, prepare/reconstitute/dilute reagents, cultivate/isolate/identify microorganisms, send reports to Health Department, follow CLIA and OSHA regulations, maintain confidentiality, and maintain a professional appearance.
- Perform phlebotomy, collect specimens, disinfect surfaces, verify patient identity, label/process/store specimens, and interact with patients.
- Medical Laboratory Technologist:
- Accurately and appropriately test specimens, report results, follow quality control procedures, perform instrument maintenance, troubleshoot equipment, comply with safety procedures, perform phlebotomy, assist with reliefs, perform assigned tests, recognize measurement issues, meet quality control ranges, assist with reports, and assist with supply management.
- Assist with follow-up on rejected messages, merge duplicate charts, print reports, and complete competencies.
- Know departmental goals, standards, policies, and assist with ordering supplies and scheduling.
Qualifications
- Medical Laboratory Technician:
- Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field, one year work experience required, two years preferred, and Medical Laboratory Technician certification required, preferably ASCP.
- Medical Laboratory Technologist:
- Bachelor’s Degree, up to three years clinical laboratory experience as a certified MT or equivalent, or certification eligible new MLS graduate, and current ASCP certification.
