Medical Laboratory Technician or Laboratory Technologist
Job Summary
Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing. Follows standard operating procedures and ensures laboratory safety, quality and regulatory requirements are met. Serves as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborates with other departments across the enterprise. Demonstrates critical and independent judgment in decision-making and problem-solving. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Medical Laboratory Technician:
- Associates degree in Laboratory Science required.
- Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
- If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed or have a provisional license, by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
- Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
- Laboratory Technologist:
- Bachelor’s degree in biology or other related field that includes 30 combined semester hours of biological science and chemistry required.
- Demonstrated lab experience, including but not limited to college laboratory experience preferred.
