In This Role

  • Process samples brought into our lab from veterinary hospitals, including blood, urine, fecals, surgical biopsies, etc.
  • Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received daily by the thousands.
  • Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Specialize in an assigned department.
  • Work in an Early Morning/Overnight position with a consistent schedule.

PPE such as a lab coat, protective eyewear, and gloves are provided to all employees.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; a 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
  • Reliable attendance with minimal call-offs for each shift.
  • Ideally, experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting, and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
  • Positive attitude and ability to bring energy into the lab daily to support colleagues.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
  • Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule

  • Tuesday - Saturday.
  • 3:00 AM - 11:30 AM (Early Morning/3rd Shift).
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
