As a Medical Laboratory Technologist at IDEXX, you perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Responsibilities

  • Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received in high volumes daily.
  • Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Specialize in an assigned department within the laboratory.

Requirements

  • 3-5+ years' experience working in a high-volume clinical laboratory with patient samples.
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; a degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) is a plus.
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment such as microscopes, pipettes, and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers.
  • Positive attitude and ability to bring energy to support colleagues.
  • Strong teamwork skills and a sense of responsibility.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work reliably and precisely.
  • Able to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
  • Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Pay

Hourly rates targeting $37.00/hour, depending on experience (must have 3-5+ years of experience as an MLT or MT in a high-volume clinical lab setting).

Schedule

This is a full-time, 40 hr/wk, night shift position with scheduled shifts from 12:00 AM (midnight) to 8:30 AM, Tuesday through Saturday, with an every-third-Sunday rotation (12:00 AM to 8:30 AM). Shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs. Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
