Responsibilities

  • Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received in high volumes daily.
  • Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Specialize in one or more of the following areas: Hematology, Chemistry, and/or Urinalysis.

Requirements

  • 1-2+ years of experience working in a clinical diagnostic laboratory setting, including setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) in a high-volume environment.
  • Education or equivalent work experience focusing on Clinical Pathology, Medical Laboratory Technician, or Technologist.
  • ASCP/AMT Certification is a plus.
  • Strong competency/experience in one or more of the following bench areas:
    • Hematology: Experience running samples on or operating analyzers such as Sysmex, Di60 Cell Image Analyzer, or CellaVision. Ability to complete manual differential cell counts and coagulation tests in high-volume workloads.
    • Chemistry: Ability to utilize different centrifuge machines, Beckman Chemistry Analyzers, or Immulite Analyzers.
    • Urinalysis: Ability to operate a CLINITEK Novus Analyzer and experience manually analyzing urine samples using a microscope.
  • Clinical analyzer maintenance and quality control experience is a plus.
  • Reliable and precise data management skills to record and maintain accurate records and diagnostic reports.
  • Ability to conduct maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and calibration on laboratory analyzers.
  • Excellent time management skills for a high-volume, fast-paced laboratory environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a great sense of teamwork and responsibility.
  • Able to meet physical requirements, including standing and sitting for extended periods, phone and computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50 lbs, and specific vision abilities (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
  • Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Schedule

Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 AM - 10:30 AM, with an every-other Sunday rotation.
