Medical Laboratory Technician 2

About the role

Inova Alexandria Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician 2 to join their team on a PRN basis. This position will cover multiple laboratory locations including Alexandria, Springfield HealthPlex, and Oakville Health Center.

Responsibilities

• Ensures quality specimens for laboratory testing by recognizing pre-analytical factors that may affect patient results.
• Communicates effectively and collaborates with team members to improve job performance and build positive relationships.
• Demonstrates knowledge of operational and regulatory standards.
• Operates systems and methodologies to produce timely and accurate data for patients, quality control, and proficiency testing.
• Participates in professional growth opportunities to enhance personal, team, and departmental development.
• Floated to other areas to maintain productivity and proficiency.
• Follows site-specific standard operating procedures, manuals, and instructions.
• Adheres to laboratory safety procedures and processes at all times.

Requirements

• Education: Associate’s degree in science from a regionally accredited college/university with 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) in chemistry and 6 semester hours (9 quarter hours) in biology. Eligibility for ASCP Board certification.
• Experience: One year of full-time acceptable clinical experience or successful completion of a National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science or Accredited Bureau of Health Education Schools accredited Medical Lab Technician program within the last 12 months.

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Lab Technician or Medical Laboratory Technician upon start.

Skills

• Strong communication skills.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
