Body Technician
About the role
This position is responsible for performing intermediate level body repairs on J.B. Hunt tractors and other equipment. This role involves troubleshooting, rebuilding, repairing, and painting of damaged or wrecked equipment. It also includes working independently and seeking assistance as needed.
Responsibilities
- Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and perform valuations to create cost estimates for repairs
- Rebuild and paint wrecked trucks, hoods, and body parts with special focus on fiberglass and cosmetic repairs
- Demonstrate proficient technical knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and more difficult repairs as it pertains to tractor maintenance including but not limited to the fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems and FHWA inspections
- Accurately perform intermediate level repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Troubleshoot tractor issues; work independently and seek assistance as needed
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) training for OE repairs
- Operate wrecker to move trucks into shop to be repaired
- Perform post-maintenance diagnostics and testing
Requirements
- 18 years of age with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/semi-tractor maintenance and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
- A/C Certification
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1-2 years of experience in body repair/ semi-tractor maintenance and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
- Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to read documents and/or information in English
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Pay
The expected starting pay range for this position is between $26.80 - $38.18. The actual starting pay may vary based on skills, education, experience, and other factors.
