Job Summary
This position acts as a subject matter expert for body repairs. Responsible for troubleshooting, rebuilding, repairing, and painting of J.B. Hunt tractors and other equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect damaged or wrecked equipment and perform valuations to create cost estimates for repairs
- Rebuild and paint wrecked trucks, hoods, and body parts; utilize expertise to perform wholistic repairs
- Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge of preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and complex repairs as it pertains tractor maintenance including but not limited to the fuel system, battery, engine, drive train, onboard computer, transmission, air brake systems and FHWA Inspections
- Accurately perform the most difficult repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications including aluminum and steel welding, complete work orders, and exceed requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines
- Troubleshoot tractor issues, develop innovative solutions, and work independently under minimal direction
- Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures
- Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times
- Complete secondary maintenance on escalated repairs
- Adhere to safety standards and procedures including maintaining respirator log
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs
- Operate wrecker to move trucks into shop to be repaired
- Perform post-maintenance diagnostics and testing
- May onboard and mentor Technician trainees; act as team lead to include beginning or ending shifts
Shift Schedule
Shifts may vary based upon location and business needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: 18 years of age with 3 or more years of experience in body repair/ Semi-Tractor maintenance and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
- A/C Certification
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes
- Forklift Certification
- PPG (paint) Certification
- Welding (tig and stick) Certification
- Basic tools are required to successfully perform this role. These tools must be supplied by the employee in most locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 or more years of experience in body repair/ Semi-Tractor maintenance and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience; willingness to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends if needed
- Ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively
- Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to read documents and/or information in English
- Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Expected Starting Pay Range
The expected starting pay range for this position is between $26.80 - $38.18
