Responsibilities

• Conduct chemical analyses of body fluids (blood, urine, and spinal fluid)
• Perform blood group, type, and compatibility tests for transfusion purposes
• Study blood cells, their numbers, and morphology
• Perform EKG’s, Holter monitors and event recorders
• Analyze test results and enter findings in computer
• Participate in proficiency testing to verify accuracy of results
• Use appropriate quality control measures to assure valid and accurate test results
• Avoid performing routine preventative maintenance on assigned instruments and equipment
• Verify instrument functioning by checking and calibrating specific lab instruments
• Document instrument data and records in instrument logs with any repairs, replacement, and maintenance
• Absorb and implement department Quality Assurance program
• Participate in the corporate compliance program

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Medical Laboratory Science or a closely related medical field
• Active registration with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
