About the role
Join the Quest Diagnostics Lab team supporting Corewell Health in Lenox, MI. Part-time afternoon shift, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM - Days vary with rotational weekends.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate proficiency in all areas of testing and troubleshoot applicable instruments/procedures in the department.
- Support the department in quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, instrument/equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects.
- Perform and report on assigned analytical tests in accordance with SOPs, ensuring quality control requirements are met.
- Support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record keeping.
- Ensure reagents/test kits have correct dates and perform QC analysis to ensure accuracy of clinical data and proper instrument function.
- Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition.
- Complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
- Assist supervisor with training of other laboratory personnel.
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Report deviations from standard or accepted testing procedures and cooperate with investigations.
- Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for standardized reports.
- Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel, if applicable.
- Participate in government/regulatory agency inspections, if needed.
- May assume lead responsibilities if qualified and delegated.
Qualifications
- One (1) year full-time experience or training in a clinical laboratory setting (high complexity testing).
- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience with most current year in present department.
- Ability to lift and carry objects: 1 to 10 pounds frequently, 11 to 25 pounds occasionally, and objects over 50 pounds rarely.
- Frequent standing and working at the bench for long periods.
- Manual dexterity necessary for using various laboratory instruments and apparatuses.
- Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty.
- Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
- BS/BA in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
- ASCP Certification (Preferred).
- MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Lab Scientist, Med Tech, Medical Technologist, CLS, Clinical Lab Scientist.
