Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrates leadership in all aspects of laboratory practice and serves as a technical resource.
- Demonstrates proficiency in general laboratory practice including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Immunology, Limited Microbiology, Microscopy, Molecular Microbiology, Phlebotomy, Urinalysis, and specimen handling and processing.
- Demonstrates working knowledge in contemporary laboratory accreditation and regulations and actively participates in the accreditation process.
- Successfully performs required quality control and proficiency testing and actively participates in evaluation of QC/PT data and development of corrective actions and follow-up, as needed.
- Actively participates in quality management process, as needed.
- Maintains accurate records of testing, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Serves as a resource for clinicians and Branch Clinic Laboratory personnel, as needed.
- Instructs patients in proper collection procedures.
- Actively participates in review/revision of laboratory procedures and policies on an ongoing basis.
- Affixes to the evaluation and development of new or improved test systems, as assigned.
- Affixes with new employee orientation and competency assessment with performance evaluation and documentation.
