Medical Laboratory Scientist Educator - Per Diem

About the role

Performs clinical duties as a medical laboratory scientist in a high-complexity lab and teaches medical laboratory science students, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role balances clinical and educational responsibilities to enhance patient and student experiences.

Responsibilities

• Execute all laboratory duties and meet competency expectations.
• Collaborate with the education team to develop and deliver MLS curricula.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and patient information.
• Identify, troubleshoot, resolve, and report technical issues.
• Engage in continuous quality improvement and ongoing education.
• Participate in team efforts to optimize workflows and meet organizational goals.
• Model professional and service-oriented behaviors, including scholarly activity.
• Serve on educational or departmental committees and support workforce development efforts.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with certification such as ASCP, NAACLS accreditation, or equivalent experience. Candidates with alternative qualifications including associate degrees, certifications, and extensive laboratory and teaching experience may be considered.
