Medical Laboratory Science Coordinator
Responsibilities
- Teaching laboratory, classroom, and/or clinical courses at the undergraduate level that may include, but are not limited to, instruction in Basics in Laboratory Sciences, Hematology, Clinical Biochemistry and Instrumentation, and Immunohematology.
- Actively participate in Medical Laboratory Science recruitment efforts.
- Participate in service activities within the department and college.
- Oversight of laboratory inventory, coordinating supply orders, managing vendor relationships, and preparing specimens for instructional laboratory sessions.
- Maintenance and ensuring proper function of laboratory instrumentation.
- Contributes to curriculum and course development initiatives and serve as an advisor to the MLS student organization, supporting student leadership and professional growth.
Qualifications
- Level I: Master's degree in Laboratory Science or science related field.
- Level II: Master's degree in Laboratory Science or science related field and 2 years of experience in the coordination of lab operations, procedures, and instruction.
- Level III: Master's degree in Laboratory Science or science related field and 4 years of experience in the coordination of lab operations, procedures, and instruction. Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS(ASCP)) certification in good standing is required.
Substitutions allowed for experience: When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.
