Clinical Laboratory Scientist Coordinator
About the role
Coordinates and leads the daily operations of the laboratory, including scheduling and supervisory duties as required. Uses independent judgment to deliver the highest level of customer satisfaction. Prioritizes, delegates and oversees all phases of the laboratory process, ensures all established processes, policies and procedures for the laboratory are followed to ensure accurate, reliable, and timely results are reported. Oversees the quality assurance and quality management programs and ensures they are followed and follows up as appropriate with any deviations in process. Ensures ongoing laboratory compliance with all appropriate regulatory organizations, and all facility and system wide requirements, including monitoring proficiency testing. Oversees laboratory education and trains of all team members, including orientation, acts as trainer and preceptor, ensures competency documentation, and acts as a resource and mentor. Assists with gathering and monitoring data to achieve laboratory goals. In the incidence of the manager or supervisors' absence, assists with additional duties such as scheduling staffing, attending meetings, etc.
Responsibilities
- Coordinating and leading daily laboratory operations, including scheduling and supervisory responsibilities
- Prioritizing, delegating, and overseeing all phases of the laboratory process
- Ensuring adherence to all laboratory policies, procedures, and quality standards
- Overseeing quality assurance and quality management programs and addressing deviations as needed
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies and system-wide requirements, including proficiency testing
- Leading staff education, training, and competency validation
- Serving as a mentor, trainer, and resource for laboratory team members
- Assisting with data collection and monitoring to support laboratory performance goals
- Supporting operational leadership responsibilities in the absence of a manager or supervisor
Qualifications
- Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Biological Science OR a related Clinical Science field
- Experience Required: (4) Years of Clinical laboratory experience
- Licensure / Certification Required: State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist License
