Laboratory Coordinator
About the role
The Laboratory Coordinator performs and demonstrates proficiency in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory while exercising independent judgment and responsibility in the performance of complex laboratory testing. This role supports high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic testing on patient specimens to assist physicians in the diagnosis and monitoring of disease states. The Laboratory Coordinator assists with training and oversight of laboratory personnel as assigned and is responsible for Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions, including system file maintenance and support of the laboratory quality assurance program. This position ensures compliance with all applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality in all laboratory operations.
Responsibilities
- Performs and demonstrates proficiency in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory while exercising independent judgment and responsibility in the performance of complex laboratory testing.
- Supports high-quality patient care by performing diagnostic testing on patient specimens to assist physicians in the diagnosis and monitoring of disease states.
- Affords assistance with training and oversight of laboratory personnel as assigned.
- Responsible for Laboratory Information System (LIS) functions, including system file maintenance and support of the laboratory quality assurance program.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality in all laboratory operations.
Requirements
- Associate's in MLT or Bachelor's in MT
- Required within 1 year of hire
- AMLT Certification or Equivalent
- ASCP or Equivalent preferred
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's in Medical Laboratory Science
