Department: Laboratory • Night shift • 1800 – 0600

About the role

Medical Lab Scientist provides information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease by conducting medical laboratory tests, procedures, and analyses with little or no supervision. The role includes preparing samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously, and accurately interpreting results in a timely manner to enable clinicians to make treatment decisions. The position requires multitasking, quick decision-making, good judgment, and performance under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Prepare samples for examination
• Operate automated equipment and specialized instrumentation
• Conduct multiple complex tests simultaneously
• Accurately interpret test results and provide timely data for clinical decisions
• Complete training in at least two rotations within the first six months of employment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology from an accredited institution (degrees in Chemistry, Physics, or Biology may be considered at the discretion of the hiring manager)
• Registry for Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP or equivalent) preferred; must be registry eligible
• 2 years of experience required
• Willingness to work on multiple campuses as assigned
• Strong language, math, and reasoning skills for data analysis and scientific procedures
• Good communication skills with the public and hospital staff
