Responsibilities
- Report to the Chief Medical Officer for clinical matters and the Hospital Chief Executive Officer or his or her designee for administrative matters.
- Provide professional medical services on a full-time basis to patients of assigned hospital(s).
- Include services such as rounding and consultations on patients.
- Collaborate with Facility’s leadership, staff, and other practitioners and consultants to help develop, implement, and evaluate patient care policies and procedures.
- Identify, evaluate, and address/resolve medical and clinical concerns and issues affecting patient care, medical care, or quality of life.
- Assess, stabilize, and determine disposition of patients with emergent conditions.
- Admit to inpatient or other level of care for treatment.
- Perform the general history and physical examination.
- Perform pre-admission assessment.
- Review and approve of pre-admission screening.
- Plan of Care Review and approval.
- Perform physical examination of pain, weakness, and numbness (neuromuscular and musculoskeletal).
- Evaluate, prescribe, and supervise medical and comprehensive rehabilitation goals and treatment plans.
- Prepare and maintain complete and accurate medical and other records in accordance with generally accepted medical practice and regulatory, legal, and accrediting standards.
- Perform administrative services as reasonably required.
Qualifications
- Must possess M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited medical school.
- Must hold current state medical license.
- Preferred: Successful completion of an ACGME or AOA accredited Residency training program in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
- Preferred: Current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation or the American Osteopathic Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
- Prior experience as Medical Director/leadership preferred.
- Experience in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Leadership: Inclusiveness, Stewardship and Resource Management, Communication, Decision-Making, Problem-Solving, Quality Improvement, Teamwork, Strategic Planning and Organizing.
- Staff Education Management: Assist with medical education as requested, including curriculum development, supervision and performance evaluations, daily rounds, lectures, demonstrations, informal discussions, and continuing education to attending Medical Staff, the nursing staff, and the therapy staff.
