Job Summary
The Insurance Collector is responsible for the full accounts receivable cycle. Duties include verification of benefits, secondary insurance filings, sending monthly statements to patients, following up on unpaid insurance claims, coordinating claim resolutions, initiating appeals, verifying demographic and insurance information, and assisting the business office as necessary.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Two to four years experience with third party reimbursement, coding and collections
- Computer experience for billing, word processing, and spreadsheet entry
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to perform basic mathematical operations
- Effective communication skills (phone, written, in person)
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding processes
- Ability to understand EOBs from insurance payers
