About the role
The Medical Center Representative is responsible for general clerical, receptionist, billing, referrals, patient registration, and customer service for the operation of the business office in a medical center. This role handles a high volume of sensitive medical, financial, and personal information daily and is responsible for daily scheduling, incoming calls, patient registration, billing/collection functions, and other assigned duties.
The Medical Center Representative ensures the accurate and efficient processing of the arrival and exit of 20 or more patients per day and operates under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform general clerical and receptionist duties in a medical center business office.
- Handle patient registration, billing, referrals, and collections.
- Manage daily scheduling and a high volume of incoming calls.
- Process sensitive medical, financial, and personal patient information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Accurately and efficiently manage the arrival and exit of 20 or more patients per day.
- Collaborate with multiple teams and work in various settings within a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Two to three years of experience in an ambulatory healthcare facility preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and a thorough understanding of HIPAA law.
- Knowledge of Third Party Payers, ICD-10, and CPT Coding is a plus.
- Proficiency in computer and keyboarding skills; experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is an advantage, with preference for EPIC.
- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with multiple teams.
Schedule
Full-time, 80 hours per pay period, day shift.
