About the role
The Medical Assistant will assist the provider with facilitating patient visits and procedures, conducting routine laboratory tests, making referrals, and contributing to quality outcomes for the practice's patient population.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with others in a team setting
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff
- Manage exam rooms and treatment areas, including cleaning and stocking supplies
- Obtain vital signs, EKGs, and specimen collections
- Document care using EPIC EMR system
- Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient needs
- Process referrals and medication refills
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
- Weekly travel to Community Anderson on Tuesdays and to Community Heart and Vascular Hospital on alternate Mondays
- Occasional orientation at the East office
Requirements
- Graduate/certificate from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED plus one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years
- Medical Assistant certification required within six months of hire
