Summary

The Medical Assistant II role supports patient care and administrative tasks in a team-based setting. This role functions under the supervision of physicians or advanced practice practitioners.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred; completion of an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience; completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience; 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required (exempt for MA IIs with 10 years experience); current BLS certification required or obtainable within 30 days of start date.
  • Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant.
